You can see how Sam’s body is protective over Dean, he hears Metatron’s words, and he stands there shielding Dean from a) the violence inside him and b) the hurtful words. He is showing Dean: I am here, I am with you no matter what. You got my back. And Dean finally lets himself be protected, he lowers his guard and looks down, he is safe enough. He can trust his brother.
